Ortho-K Glasses
< Back

Name: Shannon

Age: 13 years old

Myopia/Astigmatism Prescription: Only one eye with 200 degrees of myopia

Reason for choosing Ortho-K Glasses: The main reason is that I often swim, and it is inconvenient to wear glasses or contact lenses in the water. In addition, I have anisometropia, where only one eye is nearsighted, and Ortho-K glasses can correct the vision in a single eye and slow down the progression of anisometropia.

Experience after wearing: At first, it was a bit uncomfortable to wear. But now that I've adjusted, there are no problems at all. What I'm most happy about is that now I only need to spend 5-10 minutes a day to wear and clean the Ortho-K glasses, and in exchange, I can have the convenience of not wearing glasses for at least 1-2 days. I am very happy and will continue to use Ortho-K glasses.

Optometrist Jeff from Berlin Optical: For patients with anisometropia, using Ortho-K glasses to correct vision can reduce the difference in image size between the eyes and solve adaptation issues with wearing glasses. Patients only need to use Ortho-K glasses on the myopic eye to have normal stereo vision and depth perception. Besides correcting vision, Ortho-K glasses can also slow down the progression of myopia, so there is no need to worry about anisometropia getting worse!

If your child has anisometropia like Shannon, or doesn't like to wear glasses daily, parents might want to learn about Ortho-K glasses, offering themselves and their children another option.

Seeing Clearly Again After a Childhood Scar!

"A childhood accident scarred my right eye, and for years glassescouldn't get me past 0.5 — and soft contacts were unbearable. The clinicscanned my eye and custom-made a scleral lens to fit it exactly. My visionjumped to 0.9, and the lens doesn't rub or irritate at all. It's brought mysight back to normal."

My Son Can See Again

"After surgery at age seven, a scar left my son's vision at just 0.1— he couldn't read the top letter on the chart. We tried lenses everywhere andnever passed 0.3. The clinic custom-made a scleral lens for his eye, and theday it arrived his vision reached 0.9. I nearly cried. He's comfortable, and hecan go back to school."
